OFRAH Fellow

Erin Hoekstra
Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Erin Hoekstra graduated from Rhodes College, a small liberal arts college in Memphis, this past May with a degree in English and Anthropology/Sociology. While at Rhodes, Erin coordinated the volunteer and advocacy efforts around hunger and homelessness issues, including running the student-led community kitchen. She interned in Washington, DC at the National Coalition for the Homeless for two summers working on reports on violence against homeless people and the criminalization of homelessness.
Upon graduating, Erin accepted a fellowship with the Congressional Hunger Center, based in Washington, DC. The fellowship is divided into two six-month segments, the first of which has placed her with OFRAH for six months. For the second six months, she will return to DC with the knowledge that she has gained in Oregon to work on hunger and poverty policy.
Erin is excited to be in Oregon and to learn from all of the anti-hunger advocates that are working to eradicate hunger and poverty in the state. She hopes to meet as many of these advocates as possible during her time here and share for a brief time in the local and statewide fight against the root causes of hunger and poverty.
